There Is a Reason These Boots Are Seen All Over Pinterest And Instagram And We Have Got The Vegan Version

There is so much to be said about investing in quality items for your wardrobe.

Fast fashion has a huge impact on the environment, we know that. Today’s culture has become known for wearing once and tossing/returning. It is a sad state for not only our planet and the humans who make the clothing, but also for or mind, soul, and body. In our fast pace digital world, it is easy to feel disposable, purpose-less, and overwhelmed. But there is hope and so much change in our future. More and more brands are following consumers demand for ethical and sustainable fashion, but it’s up to us to slow down the fast fashion market and invest in quality staple pieces that are well cared for and last a lifetime. That means saving our pennies and investing in pieces that may cost a bit more upfront but become an investment in your closet and future.

For over a decade now, I had gotten used to having to purchase cheaply made shoes. Until recently, the only feasible option for vegan footwear, was the cheap stuff. I have paid a price for it along the way. Cheap stuff is cheap for a reason, just as quality made is pricier for a reason. The right shoes, make a world of difference for your body and overall health. Proper arch support is monumental in the way that you carry your body throughout the day. I have had my fair share of fractured toes, and aches and pain from my calves to my neck. All of which I have no doubt are in relation to poor support in shoes.

This past Christmas, I had a total mindset transformation. I put the vegan Jadon II Dr. Martens on my Christmas list and they have had a life changing impact. I understand that paying a higher price point upfront may not be appealing to some or even an option, but I am here to plead the case for saving up and investing in the right pair of shoes for your body and for the planet.

The boots I got run for $180, and while that is not the most expensive shoe out there, it is also not the cheapest. But here is the thing. You can absolutely feel the difference in quality and I truly believe that it is worth saving up for months to invest in them. These boots are so well made and they are built to last a lifetime. I could honestly wear these boots on the longest of walking days and not have any aches or pains. They are called an AirWair heel and it actually does feel like walking on air. They are a chunky boot, but you don’t feel the weight for the size.

These boots have completely made me question every past purchase I have made in my wardrobe. I have made the decision to quit fast fashion prices and aim for saving to invest in ethical and sustainable vegan contemporary, bridge, and designer options. Not only is this an investment in my own wardrobe but it is also an investment in the future of the planet. As consumers we hold so much power in directing brands decision making.

Last year, I committed to supporting at least one friend or fellow independent creator each month in my purchases. This year I want to fully eliminate fast fashion labels all together (unless thrifted or consignment) and stick to supporting the abundance of talent that is out there and the quality that comes with handmade pieces.
