If you are like us… You are probably looking for ways to shake up your daily quarantine routine and add a little magic to these uncertain times.

I have loved reading books by past Disney CEO’s to help build and brand my own business. In one of those books (I unfortunately can not remember which book it was), they talked about what makes Disney the brand that it is. Disney values selling an experience above all else. They sell products they sell digital content, but above all else it is the experience, the memories, the feeling that we buy.

So using the Disney method, I wanted to help create magical experiences in our own homes!

Below I am sharing the foundation for building an at home Disney experience using our 5 basic senses.

Disney has long engaged in stimulating our basic human senses in one experience: touch, sight, sound, smell, and taste. Using this formula we can re-create our own Disney experiences at home!

Here are just a few ways that I am incorporating the Disney Way in my house by engaging my senses in a similar method.

1. Touch

There are so many great adventures to take on a Disney vacation. Each day brings new opportunities!

On our last trip, we had so much fun partaking in some of the activities the Polynesian Resort was hosting each day. One of my favorites was tie dying Mickey head t-shirts. Not only was it a fun group project together, but we had cool souvenirs to take home with us.

I found a great youtube video with instructions on how to do this at home yourself.

Animal Kingdom is my favorite park in the mornings! I love to watch the sunrise while walking around and exploring the plants and animals around the park. Our local Botanic Gardens created an at home version of Nature Bingo to play outside safely together with family. You can download and print it here.

There are so many activities that we can do from home to create a Disney atmosphere. Make sure to create a fun Disney style outfit for each adventure to build excitement before each new day!

2.

Sight

Youtube and Disney + have a beautiful abundance of content that can literally transport you right back in to the parks. You can host Disney marathons or get point of view tours (POV).

Here are some of our favorite Disney ride POV videos!

We also have loved watching some of the behind the scenes docu-series on Disney+.

3.

Sound

My morning routine would not be complete without my favorite Disney Area Loop Music. I always have it on in the background while working or while reading and relaxing. It is my favorite way to stay connected to the parks.

When I am on the go Subsonic Radio App is my go to for listening!

When I am home there is so much to find on youtube. One of my favorite stations to listen to is Polynesian Village Resort area music.

4.

Smell

Scent the tone.

Disney is famous for all of the scent they have pumping throughout every inch of the parks and resorts and stores.

Why not re-create that experience back home during your morning ritual or evening after work?!

Wishes Candle Co. and Spireside, have some great scents inspired by Disney rides, parks and resorts!

5. Taste

We may not be able to go visit our favorite Disney restaurants or quick service spots for yummy snacks, but that doesn’t mean we can make some of our favorites at home!

Coffee is a vital aspect to any Disney trip. You can find the whole Disney coffee collection from Joffrey’s here.

Another favorite Disney snack that you can make at home easily is our beloved Dole Whip, we have a recipe here!

You can also make your favorite Mickey Waffles with this cute mini Mickey waffle maker.

I hope this helps add a bit more magic to your quarantine life!
